The SVS sealed 12" sub, SB12-Plus is well within your price range. I use one in my HT and it is good compromise of performance, size, and asthetics. It doesn't have as much output below 20 Hz, but that is not an issue for music playback.

The OP asks recommendations for "Dual" subs. He states a budget of $2K, no more then $2500.

So you recommend one sub for $3K.

Yes, One Fathom could replace two lower cost subs. It is an alternative that I would like to be told about if I were going to spend up to $2500 on dual subs. Because what is $499 among friends ?
