I have recently purchased a Sony 50" LCD Projection TV based on a deal with the wife that she could pick the Furniture to set it on... Oops! I now have furniture with a total height limitation for the Center Speaker of 3.5" H, x 25" W x 20” D.
Nothing 3.5" high is likely to have the kind of frequency response you want in a good center. Go phantom, if you have good mains.

I now have furniture with a total height limitation for the Center Speaker of 3.5" H, x 25" W x 20” D. I have been banned from sitting my current center on top of the TV and/or fixing it to the wall above/behind. So, any ideas for a good quality, reasonably priced Center that will fit the Furniture and the WAF?
One speaker company that you might want to check out is CANTON. They make excellent speakers. If I can sell my current system Canton is definately on my short list Check out their "CD" line of speakers. They make a center channel speaker called CD50. It is 3.5" H x 16.9" W x 3.9" D. They are made of aluminum and are available in brushed silver or black .They are solid and very well crafted and would score very high in the WAF. Hope this helps.

.....consider raising the TV with 4 or 5 three inch 2x4 blocks painted black or the color of your choice....then set the center speaker of your choice on the center of the present arrangement just under the TV....

Nice TV . . .

Those are speakers on the side of the TV, right?
Since a tonal match with the fronts is not an option, consider connecting the receiver's center pre-amp out to the audio input on the TV using an RCA cable and splitter. You will have a double mono center out of the TV speakers and it will probably perform just as well as any center that meets your 3 1/2 inch dimension.
