I know preference is very subjective, so I invite any impute... I'm looking at purchasing a new multi channel amp with at least 200 wpc for $2500 or so, I do about 60/40 on TV/Music, so far I’ve narrowed my choices down to Sherboun's 5/5210A monoblock design, Outlaw’s soon to be released Model 7500, and Parasound’s new THX Ultra2 certified Model 5250 (250 wpc). They all have excellent features, the Sherbourn and Outlaw have balanced imputes which I kind of think that could be a plus one day, but I'm not stuck on that hill. I've even spoken with Ron Fone of Sherb and an Outlaw rep, great responnse from both, so service shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, and what's up these Professional reviewers, they give almost the same scenario for every component, but word it differently? Let' stick to amp choices and save the reviewers for another day!! Thanks...

Hmm. For $900: 5x Behringer A500 in bridged mode = 5x 360 watts @ 8 ohms or 440 watts @ 8 ohms at 1% THD.

If you're thinking Parasound, get the Halo A51, not the Model 5250. The Halo has both balanced and single-ended inputs for all channels, 15 amperes more power per channel, a massive 2.2kVA toroidal transformer (bigger than the JC-1 monoblock's) and a damping factor almost 10 times higher than the 5250.

I second Chris's opinion. If you have the space & don't mind the extra cords you would have one hell of a system. Untouchable at any other price point IMO.

I just searched the internet, that Behringer A500 unit is a 2 channel? I'll look some more, but if you have a link place in a post.

Thanks,
Happy New Years!!

Yep. And bridged, its one channel. Now, with 5 of them, you have one for every speaker. Get it?

What about ATI's 2000 series? It's 200W/ch (2-7 channels) and ranges from $1495-$2995.

You can get two Cinenova Grande 3 amps ( total of 6 channels ) for roughly
your price target. 600 watts per channel into 4 ohms; 300 watts per
channel into 8 ohms ( 1000 watts per channel into 2 ohms ) :

It is an extraordinary amp considering the price...

Another idea if you don't mind used is to find the older HCA-2205A/HCA-2205AT models that have the same specs as the current Halo series (just 30 watts less power) for the price of the current Classic line. They're a steal in my book at somewhere around $1500.

I highly recommend the Emotiva MPA-1. Great amp with a very cool modular design. They even have 2 channel modules. I had one, but I sold it b/c I also had a Parasound C1.... speaking of which, I just sold my Parasound C1/A51 combo. The A51 is a beautiful amp. A perfect 5 channel amp IMO. The only reason I sold it was b/c I'm going all digital and pairing my TACT TCS MKII with the new TACT BOZ 216/2200 amps.

Sleestack: opinion Halo A51 Vs Emotiva or other AMPs

Sleestack: You had a Parasound Halo A51? I'm trying to decide what amp to replacing a Rotel 200-5ch amp. I have Paradigm s100 series of speakers and they are a full-range speaker. I have a new Anthem sound processor.

It sounds like you had a Parasound A51.

Is the Emotiva better than the A51?

The Emotiva is about $2000 cheaper!

But I want to get better than the Rotel!
I want better head-room, dynamics, and definition.

I also was looking at an Athem MCA-50 amp.

Since you had an A51, I thought you could give me first hand feedback.

It is very hard to buy an amp when you can't even listen to it or do a series comparsion...

My city doesn't have high-end stores like the big cities do.

What is your opinion about the A51 vs Emotiva or Anthem or other amps?

Thanks!

I concur on the Parasound choice. I really like the Adcoms personally. i.e. GFA-7807, 7805, and 7700. Good luck on whatever you decide. "Crank it up".
