Which 1995 Receiver Should I Buy - Kenwood KR-A5707 or Sony STR-D565?

The RX450 isn't an AVR, it's a stereo receiver. Looking at the manual I see no features that couldn't be controlled by buttons on the front....but remotes are nice.
Good point. I tend to think of anything in current production as an AVR. I really ought to know better.

I do know that little Sherwood is very cumbersome to operate without a remote. Been there ...done that.

I know I could look this up but what is the big diff between an AVR and a stereo receiver?

Simply put, an AVR (Audio Visual Receiver) is s home threatre receiver. It's like a simple stereo receiver but has digital multi-channel processing and amps for 5, 7, or more channels. It adds nothing to the two channel stereo listening experience. If you expect to expand your system into a home theater than you might want to consider saving up for one.

If the Yamaha is fully functional, it's a good deal. Even better if you can get it for $40 :D.

You guys know anything about an IR blaster app for your phone to be used as a remote for a receiver?
