Where's the Earthquake Amp fire thread?

Did the Earthquake Cinenova amp thread get removed?? You know, the one about the amp catching fire in the guys living room? If there is more to that story, let us know. Otherwise, I can't imagine why a thread about something as serious as a fire hazard coming from an Earthquake Cinenova amp being removed. Censorship? Lawsuit? What's going on?

No its called misrepresentation by the person who started the thread. It turned out he bought a used unit, shipped it over seas, modified it and then it caught fire. We didn't hear all the facts correctly from him. Now that we know both sides of the story, the situation is closed.

I'm glad you told us the rest of the story. Otherwise I'm sure many of us would have remained under the impression that something was seriously wrong with the Earthquake amplifiers. It's good to know that's not the case.

Yes, I'd have a hard time beliving a company that prides itself on "built like a tank" quality would make an amp that would just up and catch fire. It did sound suspect, but I'll admit that I was willing to belive him. I've seen a lot of quality control issues in the electronics industry lately and it wouldn't surprise me if something like that happened.

In fact, we recently had to replace the power supplies in about 200 of our Sun workstations because the original ones were under recall. Why? Because some of them had literally caught fire and torched the computer.

I'm glad to hear that this situation was cleared up and also that you guys were willing to go to bat for him. I'd hope you'd do the same for me if I were in a similar situation (minus the bogus claims of course).

He has been banned and in the future we will pre-qualify people's complaints before getting involved again. Lesson learned.

I really feel bad that I actually took his word for it. Agreed, lesson learned.

I take it that was the truth Mule was hinting to.

Earthquake says thanks

Hey,
Is there any way I can get a copy of the thread that was closed? Gene? Abraham wants to thank a couple of key people who helped out and it would help me, to help him, if I could direct him to the members who did so. I will PM any members first before sending the information to Abraham, to make sure the member is ok with it. Thanks.

i personally think this guy was trying to pull a fast one on EQ:mad: after reading further into his claim EQ found out that he had modded (or claimed to have modded) the amp & denied him the new amp:)

now he is posting in the thread that mule linked to & he is saying what he meant by doing mods was only removing dust, YEAH RIGHT:rolleyes:

weather this guy is being truthfull or not about not doing any mods on the amp might never be known but it does go to show that people posting things about doing mods or anything else that may effect their warranty may end up having their words come back to haunt them.

.....that comment is grade school compared with what this guy can come up with, HiFi, trust me, he's a piece of work....from comments I've heard, I'd bet my last dollar the amp NEVER caught on fire....mine should have BLOWN UP with what I put it through one day.....

i just went to link posted. Well all i know is when you buy second hand you take a chance. might work like a dream tell the day you get rid of it. On the other hand it might blow up. But why should anybody be at fault. except yourself. If it were purchased new there would have been no issue with it being fixed or replaced. How many of us in our lives have bought something used to save a few bucks and it back fired. probaly about 90% of us. Yet this guy felt that someone should be held accountable for his second hand amp. Wishful thinking. Yet at the end of that thread. he says he got it fixed for 200 bucks. what a laugh. you whine and complain for days on every site you can. for 200 bucks. you can't even buy a 6 foot dvi-d cable from monster for 200 bucks. instead of looking to blame someone over the past week. he could have had it fixed. All the posts this guy made and complained on. for 200 bucks what a joke. Not only caused EQ business damage no doubt. but what about the websites he posted on and they too got into some trouble. Just a big joke.

I think AH should get a unit of theirs for review, to give them some GOOD publicity.

I would love to see an Audioholics review of the Cinenova Grande 3 or 5...
