I was in the same situation. Almost nobody ships to Canada, if they do then you are looking at shipping 50-90$ + tax + brokerage fees + warranty in US = almost the same as to buy from Canadian dealership.
I am going to US in a week or so – will buy receiver there and post results.

Careful
Online purchase of Marantz and Pioneer Elite equate to no manufactures warranty I would be leery of any on line site that tells you differently
Call the manufacturer to confirm before the purchase.

You'll need to call them. Some of the names listed on Pioneer's web-site do not ship any product to Canada. I had looked at the same thing a year ago. Some tell you right on their web-site, while others you'll have to call.

If you don't care about a mfgs warranty or your fine with a retailers warranty then you should check out www.borderfree.com. There is a listing of US merchants that have signed up to sell across the border in Cdn$ and their prices include freight & duty.

I've purchased cords, surge protectors and such from some of them. Saved about 50%. I don't have the guts to do it with anything as expensive as a receiver. That said... if its more than 50% savings... you can buy two. :p

Accessories For Less is an authorized Marantz dealer (online). I called Marantz USA and they confirmed.

Good to deal with, good prices, and prompt shipping. I'll buy more from them.

Are they authorized to sell new and reconditioned or just reconditioned Marantz? If its both that is a huge change in policy by Marantz and I suspect will drastically effect there distribution to B&M dealers I will get the details at CEDIA when I talk to them Love their product I suspect it will get even better now that they are under the Denon roof
Thanks for the heads up Magoo ;)

Unfortunately, no shipping to Canada by AC4L.

Actually, I believe someone had mentioned that Marantz is one of the few that honors warranty in the USA or Canada. It doesn't stop at the border. You can just buy in the US and bring it over. For a few hundred $ it would be worth the drive. You'll need to double-check with Marantz.

New policy regarding this. Now that Marants is owned by DM there have been some changes. For starters that "universal" warranty I was promised before I spent my money no longer applies in North America, but it still does in Europe. There is a whole story behind this that I think I told before but here it goes again: Marantz was being distributed in Canada by a company that seemed to be out to make the most money possible. They actually sold Marantz products to chain stores like 2001 Audio/Video without letting their small specialty shops know that they were going to do so. Of course small shops can't compete pricewise with chain stores so they stopped carrying Marantz Products. Then Marantz was sold to DM and things started changing. No more big chain stores, no more universal warranty, but at least the website works and is up to date now.

Since you live in Toronto the border is only an hour or so away. I'd shop in the US for that high end gear if I was you. If you ever do need to take it in for repairs you'll have to go across the border though.

I can vouch for unitedonlineshipping. I recently bought a 59avi from them that turned out to be a bad unit. They had the "can do" attitude to do whatever it took to make me happy (VERY RARE). They were also willing to pay to ship me another 59avi (ALSO VERY RARE).

So why take the risk and save a couple bucks by buying online?

They have both new and "Factory Certified" Marantz equipment on their website. I asked in the Beginners Forum (a while back) if anyone had any experiences with them. I got only minimal feedback, so I called Marantz USA direct to make sure they were an "authorized" dealer -- I didn't want to get burned if I had a warranty issue. Marantz confirmed they were OK. I did not ask if they were authorized for new and reconditioned -- I guess I didn't think it mattered (again, they have both new and Factory Certified on their website).
As I said before, my experience with AC4Less was a good one!
