If it doesn't have a problem by the time a few months goes buy, chances are it never will. My 35 Year old Panasonic SA-6500 is currently running the back surrounds as a power amp only on a friends 5.1 setup, the volume/tone/balance controls are shot from old age. I'm selling my 26 year old Yamaha R-900. My friend's Yamaha R-700 is about to turn 27. None of them have ever had anything done other than to shoot some cleaner into the pots every 5 years or so if they got scratchy. I know of quite a few more 20+ year old Onkyo, Yamaha, Panasonic, and others that are still around, alive and well. The newer receivers have surface mounted PC board construction , and have less moving parts than the old timers do, so they should wear out before they break down. I dont think they won't last anywhere as long as the old timers, but 10-15 years is probably a cinch.
