Where is OPPO's Blu-ray?

What happened to the OPPO Blu-ray player?
Wasn't it supposed to be out by now; January is almost over.
I wonder if they know their asking price is too high for this economy, and are taking a 'wait and see' type attitude?

The economy could very possibly be why it is delayed. It is also Chinese New Year, so there is a good chance the overseas portion is on holiday right now.

Imagine what a bottle neck six billion people taking the day off would create.

I want that Oppo on the market but I'm not getting it until Davemcc gets it and has it running for 90 days trouble free. We should all chip in and send new gear to him for Reliability/Customer Service Reviews. :D

Oppo is a company that will delay a product rather than come out with something that they know to be full of terrible problems just to get it out on time. The expected release dates are just expectations, not promises. I personally am waiting for their player to be released and reviewed before getting a Blu-Ray player. Having hundreds of DVDs which won't look any better on a Blu-Ray player, and having the Oppo DV-983H DVD player, I feel like I can wait a fairly long time for it.

I just thought it a little strange that they don't even show a picture of it on their site.

Thanks!
I even signed up for that a few weeks ago, and promptly forgot it showed a picture.

Waiting for this is almost as bad as the wait for the new Emotiva Pre/Pro
No problem. If you have a good DVD player and some DVDs that you have not yet watched, go ahead and watch them while you wait, to help pass the time. Besides, if you wait until you get a Blu-Ray player to watch them, you will get spoiled with the improved picture, and may not want to watch those crappy old DVDs at all then.

One tends to get spoiled when one gets better things. Since buying an HDTV, I no longer watch VHS tapes at all, and had given up on buying them many years ago. However, 20 years ago, I had no problem watching them.

So, watch all of your DVDs now, and hope Oppo doesn't release their new Blu-Ray player before you finish watching all of your DVDs!

I would much rather they take their time and put out a player that does what they say it will rather than rush it and put out something that needs a bunch of firmware updates/fixes. I have no problem waiting.

Same here. It's Oppo's player I'm patiently waiting for. For what looks to be the least expensive universal player, I have no problem waiting. :)

cheers,

There is only one other universal player but it's like 42 million dollars, right?

The wait is killing me.

Ahhh, you can poke fun, but there is a silent beauty to having a 27" SDTV and a receiver that can't handle lossless audio: blu-ray does me no good. So, I don't have to pine away for the Oppo. :D

Can you imagine what it's been like for me since I set up my sister's system?
I don't have Blu ray, I don't have 7.1 and my rec'r doesn't have HDMI.

WHY ???

Karma. Stop eating chicken. :D
No can do. I just scarfed down a 22 oz Porterhouse and am already contemplating my girls chicken something or another left overs.

Soup is NOT dinner. :)

From what I've heard about it, that seems like a fair price. :)
