Where is APERION AUDIO??

Hello all,
When I was in the market for a subwoofer(about a year ago), I heard all the usual suggestions about the SVSs, the Sun Fires, and other top contenders. Anyway, I heard some serious talk, and saw quite a few write ups on Aperion Audio's (online ordering only) line of really solid Subs. They also offered a 30 day in home trial, with a money back guarantee should you not like their sub, and they eat the shipping too. I gave their Intimus S-12 a shot, and I received the surprise of my life. I've yet to see any sub as solidly constructed as this one, and the performance only makes me wonder why anyone(including me), would go out an spend, in many cases, almost $1000 more on a sub that has an SVS, or Emotiva tag on it. Don't get me wrong, those mentioned brands are fantastic, it's just that my Aperion S-12 is truly a monster, it's super responsive, and it's built so solidly, that you would need 2 Linebackers, each armed with a sledgehammer, to knock this thing apart!
I know I'm not the only guy out there, who's had this experience with an Aperion Audio Sub (not to mention their great speaker line up too). So I ask my fellow Audioholics members: "Why no Aperion Audio Talk on here?"
Just a bit confused. Joe B

Well usually you can get better sound out of companies that specialize in subs. Also as the saying goes, you get a better bang for your buck from picking from the subs from these other companies.

Interestingly enough with your aperion post, they just released info on their 3 new subs which are dual drivers. I think they called them the bravus series or something like that? Oh well, thats just the very brief and quick summary of why they usually aren't talked about as much.

Aperion got excellent review on CNET site

Aperion speakers got lot of praises on CNET.com site. I wish Axiom Audio gets similar review... because I am Axiom owner. Lot of my friends base on CNET review when make decision for purchasing. If I tell them they need around 1 K to buy a sub, they probarly just go with Aperion because the info they read from CNET.

I wrote a letter to Axiom couple days ago, asking them that they should do business with CNET.. no reply so far... lol

I've always been a little frustrated in finding good independent information for Aperion as well - they seem "off the radar" on this site in particular, but it also seems generally true.

Errr...off the radar except for the actual pro-reviews. It's been awhile, I forgot they existed. Still, I'd like to find an in-depth review of their subs; they seem to be a good deal.

I haven't heard Aperion speakers, but did here their S8 sub not too long ago and it sounded very good. It costs about the same as the HSU STF-1. I think the HSU edges it out a tad in performance, but if I had Aperion speakers and was going for aesthetics, I'd go with the Aperion. I'd like to give their speakers a listen at some point as I've heard some good things.

They are THAT GOOD! Trust Me

Yes, they have been MIA, except for some pro-reviews ,for quite some time now. I understood the other comment, on companies that make SUBs as their only commodity, as being the one's that get the most attention, and the most ink. It's just that Aperion's speakers are so damn good, that people tend to forget that their Subs are even better!
They should start to market a whole different Web page based sales site, that is dedicated strictly to their Subwoofers. I had "Live free, or Die Hard" on again last night, and I had just finished tweaking everything on my 7.1 set-up, for what I hope is the last time. Well I only had the dial at 10 o'clock on my AA Sub, and when that car came at Bruce Willis, flipping over, and over, while he was in the tunnel, the power of the AA's bass output, and it's accuracy, not only shook my entire house, but I felt myself duck a little as that car approached the front of the screen. After that, I had on some old A/C D/C and then I down shifted to the Eagles. Well if you are familar with "TNT" and "Thunderstruck" by A/C D/C, then you know how hard both of those tracks hit. THUNDER truly struck in my home last night, and it was clean too! The "Long Run" and "The Sad Cafe" (Eagles) were right on the money too, where bass was concerned.
Okay, I've waved my Fan Flag for Aperion Audio enough for one day. So if you are looking for a True winner in the Sub Category, take a dive under the radar, and Give Aperion a real listen. Take it easy all. Joe B. :D

CNET is great if your researching cell phones, mp3 players etc. but I'd look else where for home audio reviews.

what other subwoofers have you owned?

you will be happy to hear they have a new series of dual driver sealed subs.

I've auditioned both the SVS PB-12 NSD, and the PB-12. Also had a chance to live with a Definitive Technology Supercube 1 (which boasts alot more power than my S-12 by Apereion). The SVSs will almost break concrete, but who needs to break concrete, ever? But at what I think is, pretty loud volumes, during movie viewing, and music playback, the Aperion Roars just as good as the other guys, and it maintains a very neat sounding composure. If we want to see which one can rip down my house faster, then the SVS will split my overhead floor joists about 2 minutes before my Aperion does. Seriously. I didn't mention anything about the Def Tech Supercube, because didn't really feel the need to. The Aperion feels a bit deeper, and the brightness is almost the same. IMHO

In regard to the new Bravus Subs that were mentioned(Aperion), I would love to be able to test out a 2 Sub configuration, with one of their new 10's on each side of my HT Room. I'm just wary of having to part with my S-12.
Take it easy all. Joe B. :D

Why no Aperion audio talk here? Aperion is not on the Craigsublist (at AVS forum) and appears to be below the radar of most audioholics members. They should try to get their subwoofer(s) rated by Craigsublist and then word of mouth would spread and they would get more of an audience.

Y'know, that's really true. Even if he panned them, it'd get people arguing.

So has Bravus been reviewed by Craigsub by now?
Or are there any other professional reviews...

Aperion does sure seem to have a very strong fan following!

I agree, some of the junk on CNET that gets rave reviews is ridiculous. Steve Guttenberg is the biggest suck up reviewer out there. Send him a product, get a great review no matter how bad it sucks.

Who is Craigsub? The Roeper of subwoofers?

He is someone who buys lots of subwoofers, reviews them and has comparisons using blind testing, then gives them a number that isn't relateable to a perfect score. It's just a number. The higher the better, but there is nothing compare it to.

"Listening procedures:

All listening us done under blind conditions. The panel of listeners include several very experienced audiophiles, some of whom also design and build high end pro audio speakers. The subwoofers were each placed in the identical room position, and eq'ed to have a fairly flat (3 dB window) response curve from 18 Hz and up, when the subwoofer was able to go that "low".

Measuring procedures: All measurements are taken at 2 meters/GP from the front baffle of a subwoofer. In the case of a ported sub, the microphone is placed so it is 2 meters from the center of the driver(s) and port. The posted measured results are max "clean" 20 Hz output and the average from 20 to 63 Hz. If it seemed like the amp was the limiting factor in output, "AL" is added to the 20 Hz SPL.

The purpose of this information is to help people to quickly look at a variety of subwoofers and get a pair of scores, some performance numbers, and some listening tests describing the characteristics of each subwoofer. Hopefully, this will provide some assistance when researching for a subwoofer purchase. There will be times that a lower rated sub will work better for someone than a higher rated sub. For example, size, or output, in a lower rated sub may make a difference. Listening preferences may also make a difference. If slam is valued over extension, some subs excel at the 30-60 Hz slam. For others, extension will be the most important issue."

So he just does most internet brands? I mean, what about Snell, B&W, Dynaudio, Bag End, Sunfire, and so on?

SVS, HSU and such are nice, but I've never found them as pleasing to the ear as some of the above brands. Then again, I've only heard a few from SVS and HSU. I realize they are often more expensive than the Internet brands, but, the ID brands aren't so cheap either.

I think Craigsub gets involved with all brands not just internet direct.
