Where are the speakers?

I'm just dreaming here but...I am wondering where the speakers in the description of this product are located?

The page says 9 12" bass drivers, 12 6" mid-bass, and 2 1" tweeters. Am I missing something?

Then you've got this...http://www.saelectronics.com/simple/unit.php?id=23 which says it has 25 1" tweeters(which I counted and it's right), 15 4" midrange(there are 30), and 4 12" woofers I see 2 per separate box. So that means...they count all the tweeters in one enclosure, half the mid-range in the same enclosure, then all the woofers in the two woofer enclosures combined. I mean what do you get? One speaker enclosure with the midranges cut off of the box and both enclosures with the woofers? Obviously not but...what the heck?

Where is the consistancy in the way they count? For a high end brand of speaker like McIntosh, wouldn't you expect them to be able to at least tell you what is there with some consistancy so you can understand? What am I missing? I just don't understand, not that I'm going to be buying them anytime soon , but I would like to know what I'm looking at.

If you read the Eggleston text it tells you where the drivers are;

"Each transmission line contains three drivers in a pressure driven design, mounted front to back. The rear drivers reduce backpressure on the baffle-mounted drivers,... "

" Nine 12" woofers loaded in three parallel chambers. Each chamber consists of three woofers firing in a pressure driven configuration. The rear drivers reduce backpressure on the baffle-mounted drivers"

As for the McIntosh speakers it looks like a case of forgetting to multiple by 4 for the mid-ranges.

I guess I still don't get it. What that says is Greek to me. What does it mean when they say 3 parallel chambers? I read all the text in there...I just don't understand. Will somebody please explain? Are they inside the box? Weird!

Yep. There's the front driver you see in the picture, then an identical one behind it, then another on on the back of the enclosure.

How does having the speaker inside the box affect the sound? It's very interesting.

The internal speakers are in their own chamber, similar to a bandpass enclosure, or a horn-loaded driver. What exactly is being accomplished varies depending on how they have done this.

This company seems to really get crazy with their designs...there's some pretty advanced work there. I'd say find a copy of "the loudspeaker cookbook" (library may be a good start) and enjoy the read. It will provide some insight to the benefits of the various enclosure designs.

They aren't cheap...MSRP according to a site I found in a google search is a whopping $100,000 a pair. Something to dream about, that's about it for me
