When will Friday come?

I will...thanks.

For some reason the blue light indicating the center amp isnt lighting up but the center is working. The only thing I did weird here was used a video cable for the center as I was out of audio cables. I thought this was ok but now I wonder?
First: I agree...very nice!

As for the blue light, I'd say swap the cables between that module and one of the others to see if the cable is the issue. It might be the module. Emotiva is less expensive, but they aren't always perfect the first time around. If it's the module, though, I'll bet that they'll replace it without any hassles at all.

I think it is the light; I will call them tomorrow and see what they say after I swap the cable out.

So what do you think of the amp so far?

My dad is finishing up his HT and wants an Onkyo 905, simply because its "the best." I am trying to convince him to get an 805 along side a MPS-1. He is hesitant because he hasn't heard of Emotiva and said something about fans being loud in a review he read . I am just trying to get some personal accounts to help me convince him :).

Well, no need to worry about fans on the MPS-1 - there aren't any. :)

Thats why I had the questions marks there. I was so freaking confused by what he said! I think he is worried and trying to dissuade me. Either way I am curious to see what Greg has to say. So I can show my dad :).

Not trying to hijack the thread, but seeing as how Friday has come and went, I think I'm safe.

I just noticed that your dad (a) hadn't heard of Emotiva and (b) read that their fans are loud? That's a tough combination to pull off. ;)

I told him that he should look into Emotiva amps and he said he hadn't heard of them. So I sent him a link to the review on AH and their site and thats when he started to look into it and discovered these fans ;).

He is more hesitant because the last time he bought a system (before I was born) he didn't run into the Emotiva name so it must be bad .

There are 7 fans in the MPS-1, each modual has one. I have not really tested it out much. By the time I recieved it last night at 7pm, pulled all my gear out, connected it and grilled chicken in the middle of it all, it was getting late and we wanted to watch a movie. I just did a half-*** cal with the YPAO and left it at that. We watched the movie at -16 db (calibrated where 0 is 75db) so I dont think the amp was working very hard;) and I never heard the fans. I will play with it some today but first I must get up in the attic and finish out some more storage space for all these new boxes I have aquired recently.

I believe your Dad lives near me correct? He is more than welcome to come and take a look and listen to mine. I am very impressed with the build and look of the amp and it was all boxed up in a first class style. (double boxes, then a foam crate, then a black cloth bag)

Oh and by the way, last night was the first time we watched a whole movie with the DLP. It is really nice and 73" seems perfect in this situation.

Holy cow man.... you are one twitchy bastard..... :)

Glad you got all your stuff... that DLP is gynormous !!!!!!

I would like to hear more about your thoughts of the Emotiva...

Did that seem to fix your problems you were having...? Im sure you will be gaining quite a bit of headroom now.... taking that load off that receiver.. :)

lol...

73" seems about right and I think I am going to like the DLP. I cant decide if the technology is a move backwards or not. Not as sexy as a flat panel but like they say "there's no substitution for cubic inches". I have the 50" plasma in my bedroom now and the 42" LCD in the office so sexy may be covered.

I also recieved my panels this week but they have been sent back and we will be looking for some that are more appealing to the eye.

I am not saying anything about the Emotiva until I have spent some time with it. For now lets just say I have a big, goofy smile on my face.

How's your deck and tub going?

Is that a 3 D TV you bought...? I think you are looking for square footage.. ;)

That is a monster of a TV... very nice... I find that Dish Network SD is really much better in comparison to cable SD... just a heads up...

As far as my deck is going... tub is installed in the lower sunken deck, and I have completed the upper surround structure and Im on to the decking... What a project this has been, and I have to have it done by next week SAT for my 40th B-Day party... dam Im old.. heheheheh

Never enough time for all these projects... but I'll get it done monday and tuesday... Can't wait to be done with the decking...
