When do you use your HT

My HT's on all the time, for the same reasons BMX has stated. Why spend the money on all this cool stuff and not use it? My grandmother, who lived through hard times during the Depression of the '30s, still used old jelly jars for everyday drinking glasses, even though she had a beautiful set of dishes & crystal in her china cabinet. She died without ever having the pleasure of using them.
In other words, USE 'EM!;)
This is it exactly!

Only when something is worthy of good sound do I use it. I bought a car, too, but still walk to the corner store.

Since I do all my video switching through the TV and I run a red/white analog feed to is (as well as a parallel digital feed to the AVR when the source requires it) I don't even have to bother with the AVR most times. I do my audio switching through the AVR.

We use the TV to select what you wnt to watch. Since all sources have sound, it's not a problem. If we want the big sound, we simply turn on the AVR, select what source we want to listen to, and turn the volume down on the TV. So far, nobody has had any problems dealing with this.

Most times we simply use the cable box remote which, conveniently also controls the TV's volume.
No surprise, I'm in the minority here.
I'm with Mark on this one. I use the HT when the sound or the occasion are worthy of it.

Not for the morning news, not for Jeopardy.

It's not an economic issue, although that is a valid argument.

I just don't see the point in hearing the morning weather girl in 7.1.

I'm still not buying into the HDMI "one cable does all" philosophy. I like the flexibility to choose how I want to watch and listen.

Well there it is.

1) I don't watch the news.
2) I don't watch game shows.
3) I get-up between 12am-2am. Nothing on, but my boxers.;)
4) If my wife and I are going to watch something, it better be good.

I use mine for all movies and PS3 games and any good TV shows (Lost, Fringe, Prison Break, UFC, History Detectives etc..). But if it's just a normal TV show or news I don't, even in 5.1 surround sound the news is still bad, lol.

All the time as well. It does come down to KISS- the Harmony One makes it so easy... one "click" and everything is on. It would take more remotes and more work to just watch TV without the whole HT.

All the time for me, too.

Even if I was one to watch some programs only through my TV speakers, which I'm not...my TV speakers are turned on and off via a switch on the back of the TV, which I can't get to without moving my sub. So, I'm not going to toggle those very often. :D

We have two separate systems. The HT system and then the other tv/study room. The tv/study room is not well furnished so we dont watch tv there that often even though I would prefer that.

We listen to music and also watch tv on the HT system (projector). Mostly in Pure Direct mode. The reason behind this is that i still like to be surprised by true surround sound when we watch a movie.

Because of this same reason I plan to remove the digibox off the projector so that we watch only DVD's on the projector.

Just trying to keep the WOW! factor! :D:cool:

my main HT = movies only and i have to set appointments with the wife too.

my bedroom setup = i'm of the "i have it, i'll use it" mentality, i use it for whatever, TV, background music ... but my wife can't help using the tv speakers when i'm not around.

When I first got it my HTS was on all the time. Now it's only when I am watching something that needs it, like a movie, concert, or when listening to one of the digital music channels.

BTW: This would have made a great poll.
