Here is a thread where you can tell us about your weirdest/ hardest to fix interference or ground loop problems and how you fixed them.

I'll go first:
When I first moved in to my house with my wife. My dad helped me install and mount my 7 speakers on my walls and ceiling. After a few weeks everything was working great. Then it happened...around the same time every evening my wife and I were watching TV when all of a sudden blasting out of the r/f and right side surround speakers came police radio chatter! This only lasted for about 1 second but it would scare the hell out of you! At first I had no idea what to make of it. I could not for the life of me figure out how a police radio signal could find its way into my system and actually produce sound out of speakers. Well I did the first basic steps checked all wiring and connections all ok and no ground issues either. So I was forced to deal with this for a few weeks when it made me curious why the noise only came from the r/f and right side surround speakers and none others. I spoke to my father about this issue. With his many years of HT experience he said that he bet the length of wire going from the receiver out to those 2 speakers was long enough to be induced by certain frequencies. NOTE:These 2 speakers were the only 2 speakers on the wall facing the street this started to make sense to me now. The wire I have running to those speakers isn't shielded too well and I didn't want to replace the wire. Instead my father has the great idea to wrap the speaker wire in aluminum foil just before in entered the terminals in the back of the receiver. I did this and presto problem fixed. Never had a problem since. Anyway thats my crazy story looking forward to hearing anyone elses!

I was setting up a small HTIB for my parents in the basement and i was not using the included seaker cable. I was using some 16g wires and i couldn't get the front left speaker to work. I tried the original wire and it did work. Re-cut another peice of 16g wire and it didn't work. I did a google search and for some reason this particular Onkyo reciever had this problem.

When I was in my teens I had a portable boom box that would always pick up Ham radio stations in the middle of the night, so i would listen to nerds around the world discuss "issues"
