as with anything else in life everybody has their own opinion of what loud music is to them,im curious as to what level do you consider music to be loud?

None of the above.

Loud music to me (and yes it's music to my ears) is the four General Electric F-101-GE-102 turbofan engines of a B-1B "Bone" in full afterburner.

highfihoney: For me, it depends on the type of music.
Clasical & jazz: 60-80 db.
Blues: 70-90 db.
Rock: 80-100 db.
Drown out an annoyance (the cackle of an overly-loquacious person, or some other offensive trait that one wishes to obscure): 100-120 db.
Really though, as I mature, and tend to appreciate things more, I find myself able to enjoy music more at softer tones to save my precious eardrums.

I have to choose front row at a concert. Of course I am biased because I am a musician. There is just something about live music that cannot be created by listening to a disc, even if it is a live disc.

Front row at a rock concert is too loud.

If the neighbors tin is rattling, there is some serious room treatment needed.

Turn it down to be heard.:D Just right.;) I usually jam by myself. My friends, and wife, don't like it as loud as I do.

I know too many people who want the music turned down so low you can't even discern what's playing. Those people are music haters, and are not to be trusted.

Realistically, front row at a concert should be just fine if it's mixed right. As long as it doesn't cause hearing damage, it's not too loud. But I usually wear earplugs just in case.

At home or a bar or party, there's a nice sweet spot where you feel immersed in music, but can still converse with someone if they're within 3 feet.

I live this, people give answers, but don't vote. No wonder Bush won.

I perfer to be able to talk to others. When I'm by myself, I will go louder, but nothing extreme, reflects become unbearable.

Hi Honey...uh...I mean Hifi,

I need to feel the music. (figuratively) Every song has a level at which it "sings" to me. Usually thats at a volume that I need to turn down just a little to speak to some one with out raising my voice to a level above talking loudly.

The loudest thing I have ever heard is two top fuel dragsters both on a good run at the same time. It's so loud that there is an almost absence of sound when the earth shakes and then they shut down and there is a void left behind for just a split second until you can hear normal sounds again.

I live near an airport and a (former) naval airbase, nothing is loud to me :D I've heard a B1B on approach and they are damn loud.

Not front row at a concert, front row at a ROCK concert :D

If you're talking at home, loud is having to turn it down to hold a conversation with others.

Top fuel dragsters is the loudest thing I have ever heard too :D Even with good ear plugs, it is still LOUD. It is so loud, your body vibrates. There's nothing else like it :)

for me with jazz & blues i listen at moderate levels, for rock it's (need to turn it down to talk) but for heavy metal i like to give er all she's got at concert level's.

i included the shake the neighbors aluminum siding for the "bass freaks" like my neighbor,he has a sweet rig but he goes over the top on the bass.

Depends. Country music is "too loud" at any level.

There needed to be a middle category to vote on. When I was a kid, the level of too loud was when mommy yelled for me to turn it down.

The middle category is when you disturb others in the house.

Damn WAF is lower than than MAF (mom acceptance factor).
