whats the thickest speaker cable i can connect?

i have an Onkyo CS-210 mini system. im wonderin whats teh thickest speaker cable i can connect to this system to get the best possible sound. i currently have from what it looks like 18ga from the factory wires hooked up to it.

why don't you use 1/8" solid copper bus bars? You'll have to bend them with pliers, but its worth it to get that extra bit of sound out of the Onkyo.

Unless you have some long wire runs, 14ga wire is more than enough for almost any speaker out there. Even in large home theater systems with in-wall wiring, the largest gauge wire is usually just 12ga.

Luckily your system doesn't use very large amounts of power. The receiver is rated for 20 WPC at 4 ohms and the speakers are 5 ohms nominal impedance. The wire gauge that came with your unit is probably more than enough, but you can always spend a little more on good quality cable (like Belden) with good quality connectors.

Changing speaker wire will not improve the sound. FWIW I use Radio Shack 14 gauge.
