My question was about the totally fiber HDMI not the hybrid version. But thanks for the solid advise. It's for a projector, so I don't really need the audio part that's handled by the Marantz processor.
I've been evaluating the new Ruipro Pure Fiber HDMI cables since late November and they work as expected.
Installing the cables takes a little more care because you have to install the MPO first, then install the DFO connectors, which takes a bit of care so
follow the instructions very carefully. Basically you install the MPO first, then take the protective covers off of the MPO and DFO ends taking care not to touch the ends, and then when connecting the DFO to the MPO, make sure you hear a click. The DFO ends are labeled Source and Display. External power, which is
required for pure fiber at the SINK end is USB, so you need to power the included USB power supply by using an extra USB port on your sink device or from an outlet with an adapter (not included). The armored pure fiber cable offers better compression resistance, tensile strength, and bend flexibility but the performance is the same as the standard pure fiber cable. On the other hand, newer hybrid fiber cables do not require a power inserter because the newest iterations are designed to use lower power.
Take care when pulling the MPO (cable) because they are pure glass fibers so they are a bit more delicate than a hybrid fiber cable. They are flexible but keep your bends as gentle as possible. The main problem is that you can't really lay the cables out and test them first without taking the DFO's off to install them. You could install a completed cable but it would depend how the diameter of the conduit you are using and how you plan to pull the completed cable. That being said, the DFO's are designed to be removed but......
Finally, pure fiber cables will not come with the ATC certification (QR label) because HDMI LA does not yet allow for pure fiber cables to be certified due to the external power requirement.
