what to stuff in rafters above basement

im redoing the ceiling in the HT room in the basement, should i just put 2 layers of fiberglass insulation up in the rafters then 1/2" drywall to keep the sound from carrying upstairs as much, Im not looking to spend a fortune, and the ceiling is 16x27'

any advice welcome thanks

You can buy the insulation in an appropriate thickness to match the rafter height and in a width that is for wood framing as opposed to metal framing. With metal you would need a full 16" width but with wood you end up with 1-1/2" less due to the thickness of the wood. If you are only going with 1 layer of drywall, make it 5/8". Check the prices, they are very close. Find a drywall supplier. :)
