No, you just left off the word "meter"....I use a measurement mic along with software (REW-Room EQ Wizard) and a laptop. There are separate spl meters like this, or even phone apps (but they're limited by whatever mic is in your phone).
SPL meter do mesure the dB of each speaker accuratly. What about subs, do the SPL meter do mesure the subs also?.

As long as the range of the device/mic works for the frequency range you're interested in (a phone's mic may not work well for example).

Not only it has to cover the frequency range to be tested, it should have a relatively flat response throughout the whole frequency range as well. Only a specifically designed microphone will give accurate results.
