How about these mains and the SBS's for rears? Just a Thought. :D

The first thing to understand is that I currently have a $400 sony HTIB, that seems great, but I want the best I can afford for the new house.

So please lay it out for me. Go with the scs01 for the mains and center. Then use the sbs for the rear with the 12 sub?

I can't even begin to explain how crazy building a new house has been. We are just finishing up the kitchen appliances and countertops. Picking the tile for the entryways and bathrooms, still need to pick carpet for the bedrooms, etc.

So the HT system is my choice, the wife doesn't understand all this HT stuff, but likes her movies loud, so with a great HT system, she might even love me for a bit. and she really won't know what it cost so I want something so good I won't need to upgrade for a long time.

Also, I still plan to put a pair of speakers in the kitchen, bedroom, and outside for the patio - any suggestions are welcome.

I just rebuilt my house after the 2004 Hurricanes in Florida. Second time for this house. It's a custom home, so I know what you mean. I had to pick every single thing out myself. See my webshots link bottom of page.

I have auditioned the SBS speakers, but not the new SCS's. But if it was me I would do the SCS's as mains and SBS's as rears. And I would get the biggest sub I could afford.

For $#1225, this seems like an awfully good deal: http://www.svsound.com/products-spks-scs01.cfm

Throw in a PB12 sub and never look back!

*Standard 7.0 set above includes one pair SCS-01(M) speakers, one SCS-01 center, and two pair of SBS-01 bookshelf surround speakers.

[Edit] This suggestion has been touched on already, but seems to have gotten lost somewhere along the line.

Forgive me if this was addressed earlier in the thread, I just did a scan through it... Have you done local auditions of every speaker in your price range? That is step one and the most important part of your speaker (and the whole system for that matter IMO) system search by far. Brands like Paradigm, B&W, Boston Acoustics, Klipsch and so on. It will be a revelation to your ears if you have not done this already. This gives you a whole new prospective on what floats your boat speakerwise. Good luck!

Just do it Todd...You will be happy!

But this HT stuff is a demon so plan on looking back and always wanting to upgrade.
