What products have "Commercial Killin"

I have an Emo UMC-1 and have been enjoying the Dolby Volume, some of the many other bugs... has me keeping my eyes open for other options.

One of my biggest desires in a Pre-Pro or Receiver would be Dolby Volume or a similar technology that would keep those obnoxious commercials at bay and maybe also permit leveling between sources. I hate switching between an SD channel on Dish to an HD channel and then have to ramp volume up or down to adjust.

So to show stoppers in a product... has to have Dolby Volume or Similar Technology and Pre-Outs. I have a 7Channel amp, so don't really care about internal amps in a RX, but will take a Receiver if it gives me the features I want. Working Room calibration would be a bonus!!!

Any thoughts of what is out there? I know Denon has a smaller RX with Dolby Volume... but it does not have pre-outs. I see a lot of take about Audessy Volume this and that... but I am not sure it works the way Dolby Volume does.

Also... Looking to stay under $2k... waaay under! ;)

First of all, temper your expectations.

The whole thing with having nice amps to begin with is to have dynamic range. In one sense, you're looking to kill it, but OTOH, I do think I know what you're asking.

Different channels simply have louder defaulted levels than others.

I would definitely PM "bandphan", because I remember he recently recommended some sort of in-line device that can help out with this on TV signals.

My impression of Dolby Volume, and similar technologies, have to do more with dialogue intelligibility mixed with action effects. Probably related to the whole Fletcher/Munson thing, but to be honest, I'm really not up to date on how these "similar technologies" work. I already forgot the difference between Audyssey Dynamic Volume vs Dynamic EQ, for instance.

Commercials suck, period. My advice is to use the mute button, or record on a DVR and fast forward. Like I said, temper your expectations. The advertisers are paid to compress at a maximum, and if they didn't, they would be out of a job.

Please don't recommend PMing Scott unless its regarding booze or strippers. Overall, he's an idiot and a disgrace to our forum. :p

I'm obviously not kidding. Although I do remember him mentioning a device, one of his very few useful posts. ;)

I'm obviously super GAY. Although I do remember him mentioning a device, that is very useful for me and my friends.

Booze is enough, corn is the bonus;) It shouldnt be an issue before long. Once the finish babbling about health care, this should be enacted.
