My equipment list is below. I usually tell people they can get a fairly nice car for what I've spent. The Lexicon is the first piece of new gear I've purchased in 4 years.:D

ARC SP9 MKII preamp
VPI HW19jr
Rega RB300
Marcof PPA1 head amp
Shure, Sumiko, Ortofon cartridges
Marantz CD63SE CD
MSB DtoA
Sony DVP-NS500V
Accuphase T101 tuner
Nakamichi LX-3, ZX-7 Cassette
Lexicon MC-8 (recently purchased)
2 modified Hafler DH200
2 radically modified Dynaco MK3's
1 Adcom GFA545
2 Paradigm xovers
2 12" Subs
1pr Acoustat Spectra 22/SPW-1 ESL's (fronts)
1pr Acoustat Model 1 ESL's (rears)
The woofer cabinet from the Spectras' is connected with the Model 1's for my rears

You've got a lot of gear there.

Same here, either way most of em still think im nuts, even the friends of mine who spend mega bucks going on ski trips or hunting trips cant understand any other hobby than their own.
That's the really funny part. People think you've lost your mind for buying a $650 DVD player, but those same guys will drop a grand on a set of golf clubs that I view as completely uselss.

.....but Rob, there's nothing as pacifying as seeing how far out into a lake you can sling a putter after missing a three foot putt.......

Golf rules man. A grand won't buy you much. A new driver alone will run you $400. A good putter, $150. You can drop $50 on a dozen balls easy. Greens fees - $75 on a nice course. And don't forget about tipping the club help for loading your bags onto your cart.

There's little more satisfaction in life than hitting a ball 300 yards right down the middle of the fairway - especially on the first tee in front of a bunch of bystanders. YMMV.

I tell people exactly what I paid while they marvel at the performance.

I think golf sucks, especially from a 5.1 perspective.

Maybe you missed the part about the Lexicon being my first purchase in 4 years. It replaced a Lexicon purchased in 1988. My preamp is ten years old. My modified Dyna tubes are more than 30 years old. I buy gear with the intention of keeping it at least ten years. I suppose it's why I've never bought a receiver. Today's receiver is worth diddly next year. I've just been at this hobby longer than a lot of other posters have been alive. I bought my first piece of gear in 1967. :D

Yeah, I'd rather watch the grass on the 'course grow than play golf. YMMV.:D
