In addition to being an A/V junkie, I'm also really into cooking. Okay, I do that for a living so maybe it shouldn't count, but I'm a hardcore knife junkie. I'm into Japanese knives and waterstones. Sharpening is an addiction almost as bad as audio.

I'm also into collection OOP RPGs (eg AD&D, Rifts, Torg). I have many boxes of TSR D&D stuff from many editions.

Right now I'm a bit of a lapsed gun nut. I don't have a good place to shoot or much time, and my reloading gear has been boxed up for a few years. Down the road I'd like to get back into shooting more again.

I'm really into reading although lately most of my reading is for school. I'm into philosopy, history & fantasy fiction- and of course, cookbooks. Anything concerning molecular gastronomy, just in case anyone is making an Xmas list!

TLS - I want a tractor so bad I can taste it. We keep talking about eventually buying siome land in TN or GA. I would like 20 acres or so. All I want is a green tractor with a back-ho and scooper in front so I can just go around digging holes and pushing dirt around. I want 3 miniature cows, some dogs, and the ability to relax on my pseudo farm. It would be a complete 180 from where I'm at today. I'm looing forward to it. I've also thought about getting a small herd of those fainting goats (google it). I think it would a lot of fun just to sit in a lawn chair all day drinking beer with my air horn!

If you want a green tractor with a backhoe you will need something fairly modern.

The backhoe was invented by a Scotsman, Robert Ewan of Fife in 1947. However the first production of his design was by Whitlock Brothers, of Essex England. This was the Dinkum Digger Mk 1 which came to market in 1951.

We had two in the firm "Pardix" of Chestunt Herfordshire. They were not a good machine, and broke their jibs regularly.

The first successful backhoe was by James C Bamford (JCB) on the Fordson Major tractor in 1954. The firm added them to the fleet right away and scraped the Dinkums.

I don't know the date of the first JD backhoe but I'm guessing around 1960. The first US backhoe was from Case 1957. A JD of that era would be industrial yellow.

A JD backhoe would not be green until the introduction of the newer range of light utility tractors. That will cost you a few dollars.

On the whole vintage equipment is a good deal and very cost effective, and great fun to own.

I use the 1948 model A for road grading and snow removal mainly. I use the 1958 420 utility tractor for mowing, spraying and moving boats and trailers about.

Both tractors are very useful round the place and more than earn their keep.

I haven't changed my HT much since I put it together 5yrs ago. I started lurking around here again a couple weeks ago when I started pondering a Blu-ray player. There is a good reason for that. Poverty is owning a race car lol. During the summer (April to October) we can usually be found at the Drag strip every weekend. During the colder months the wife and I shoot league darts one night a week. Back in my younger days that used to be a 7 night a week deal as it was a good excuse to go to the bar ...........Ahhh darn I need 1 more post to be able to put up pictures going to split this up

oh yeah the motorhome came with a built in 5.1 setup basically a glorified HTIB. Actually in that small a space it sounds pretty good considering.

No kidding. When I was in highschool, I had a dark red and silver Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. I spent every dime on that car. Black leather interior and the old school Alpine with the super cool glowing green buttons. I had gold Enkei rims on it... 15's which was a big deal back then. I'd love to get one and restore it to my old car.

Actually my first car out of college was a new Oldsmobile 442 4-speed with 365 Hp 455 cubic inhc engine. It got about 7 miles per gallon in town and maybe 12 on the highway.

I love the old z cars. The long hood just looked so slick and the engine was extremely intimidating looking. I had a done a lot of work to my Turbo Z but had a hard time keeping the transmission together. I got IMSA racing transmission and a racing clutch, then starting twisting drive shafts and breaking motor mounts. We got rid of the heavy rubber mounts and put solid ones in and eventually started to crack the frame. It was a fun classy car at the time and I had that little four banger running mid to high 13's on street tires, but it just wouldn't hold together. Near the end of my senior year in hiigh school, I got an 84 Mustang SVO... another 4 cylindar turbo. Great car as well. I miss those days!

That totally just reminded me of a video tape we took of us drag racing at 9 Eagles which used to be in the middle of nowhere. Our friend had an awsome 442 and our other friend had just gotten his 86 Mustang GT 5.0 and was trash talking. We videotaped Mike and his awsome 442 totally crushing the 5.0 by about 10 car legnths and smokin the tires the first 1/8 mile. There's never been a substitute for cubic inches!
