So, tired of not being able to play my music without headphones, I decided to splurge on a pair of speakers. Now, though, being a total noob, I don't even know where to begin looking.. there is so much stuff out there! So, need some help.... Here is what's given:
Budget: around $1,000. Less (even a lot less, if that does the job) is fine. A little more is fine if it'll make a significant difference.
Speaker use: Will be used primarily for music, and a bit for movies and games. Hooked up either to a laptop or an iPod or another mp3 player. So I guess they need to have a built-in amplifier -- my main objection to a standalone amplifier is that it takes up space. The mp3s are high quality, there is some lossless music in my collection as well (though I'm not sure if a laptop with a pretty average sound card can bring out the full richness of the lossless music).
Speaker requirements: My apartment is not very large, so they should not take up a lot of space. Ideally they would go on a wall. And... I hope they sound nice. As nice as the rest of the setup allows them, that is. I know I'm not working with audiophile-quality equipment to begin with, so I don't want to pay big bucks for something I won't be able to hear anyway. At the same time, I don't want the sound quality further degraded by a cheap piece of junk.
So tell me. Help me. Guide me. Make me happy.
Thanks!
