Are there hdmi-based speakers/soundbar? That could be a way around the problem.

I have emailed their customer support, but I dont have high hopes of getting an answer.

There are two for my TV. One that includes audio and video and one that is audio only. They both came in the box with my TV. Here is the video one (component vid, 3 video, 2 audio):

Audio one just lacks the smaller plug, which is the video so basically looks like a standard headphone plug to stereo analog and composite video.

Yes, as I said earlier, HDMI is the way to go for this one. It will have far more options for you.
