What is the general consensus regarding streaming wav files from a network drive

Hi all , I find its very convenient putting all my CDs in wav format and streaming them to my marrantz network receiver.
How do people here feel about the sound quality from the actual CD to uploading them on a drive in wav and streaming them ?
I thought they sounded pretty good but I recently bought a CD and thought there was a noticeable difference in the quality .
Has anyone else noticed a loss in SQ doing this . It's either that or find a changer with a 300 cd cartridge

If you preserve the same resolution during the conversion the sound quality should be the same and that's my experience.

I listen to all my music via steaming WAV files the sound quality is the same as when I listen directly from CD.

sorry to thread jack a little here, but what do you guys find the best to stream with? I was looking at the western digital that doubles as a hard drive, as i would like to not have to chew up on my limited downloads per month.

I stream WMA Lossless ripped from CDs, and the SQ is exactly like playing from the original CD.

So it doesn't matter if it is FLAC, WMA Lossless, WAV, or any other lossless format. The quality is the same as CD.

Im using a 1 terabyte western digital network drive , works great . To think 10 years ago with my Yami 2700 I had to use a full blown computer

Ok my issues must be in my head . I hate the thought of a cd changer this day and age .im running about 40 feet of cat 5 to my basement by the time it gets to my WD network drive , that shouldn't be an issue?

How are you comparing CD playback to WAV playback?

Nestor I upload the original CD to my network drive in WAV format from my desktop comp ,then I put he original cd in the marrantz 5 disc changer and listened to it ,going back and forth from changer to network on my remote .
I swear the bass and mid bass sounded better from the changer but maybe it was just louder creating the illusion, who knows .
i guess I could get a friend over to change the processors input and I could do a blind comparison

It's possible as you said the mismatched levels are deceiving your ears, but either way, if there IS a difference it's not due to file format. I don't know a ton about your particular equipment. I'd assume your AVR handles WAV natively, but if it's transcoding or upsampling or something that could be an issue. Also, maybe the receiver handles streaming files differently in terms of its processing, room eq, etc.

I use windows media player to upload to the WD network drive . I do it in WAV with no compression .
is there better software for reading and uploading CDs instead of using windows media player ? Ive already uploaded a few hundred albums , but if my SQ is suffering because of it I'll start from scratch.

my processor now is a marrantz av7005 , that's until I win the lotto and change to an Anthem proc and amp

I used Win7 also, SQ remains same as CD so I don't think it has anything to do with the AV7005. Try making sure your settings are correct when doing the conversion and do a volume matching when comparing, would be a good first step.

^This.^ Bits can't see where they are stored or read labels and couldn't care less if they are played back from a CD or a WAV or a FLAC or any other lossless format.
