What is the best CD deck?

What deck would you say is the best overal for under 300 dollars (Canadian)?

By having a good quality dvd player like a denon or marantz you can have the best of both worlds , I have a toshiba hd dvd player for movies and an older panasonic dvd recorder for recording dvds and playing cds...

A rock solid unit and good sounding! I think it's the best in it's price range. Hard to go wrong with HK!

Then Pioneer all the way, I have always liked them and they are less likely to breakdown like the kenwoods and sonys which are always breaking down.

I was going to buy a Pioneer Premier deck but it annoyed me how the screen changed from blue background and black lettering to black background and blue lettering every minute or so. A buddy of mine has one and I can't stand it.

Kenwoods break down alot? Who says that? I was thinking of getting a Kenwood Excelon deck, but maybe thats a wrong choice.

I've heard this from shops who dropped Kenwood because they got tired of replacing decks....
also, a couple friends of mine who swore by Kenwood for years began having quality issues with their decks a few years ago.

personally, for a budget deck, I'd go with Pioneer.
