What Is DIGI LINK?

Hey guys i am very new in home theater. I have a Yahmaha Sound Bar upstairs.. But the i was just wondering if it is possible to hook a sub up to our basment's system which is a Sherwood HTR 250 and i was also wondering what DIGI LINK means it says that on the back of the receiver.

Digilink is Sherwood's proprietary communications protocol allowing interconnected Sherwood components in your system.
BTW I do not know the HTR250 but in a search it comes up as a remote??
