I just saw this Mike, when did I say that the Monitor Audios wer not SPL capable?

I do think the GS are a bit more robust than the RS but both would make very good HT or music speakers. Back when I compared them (five years ago), I prefered them (MA sliver) vs the Paradigm Studios. The Paradigm Signature's vs the MA Gold's was A very close call with the MA's being less expensive.

If you want big SPL at low cost , check out the JTR Triple8's. They can handle lot's of power and rattle your teeth out.:D
This was the route I was thinking for you Mike. Just to keep up with the amount of bass you are able to produce why not something like the JTR or even something like the Klipsch Ultra II which would be easy to drive and give you generous amounts of SPL.

really? i think you posted in my HT thread or pm'ed me that i should reconsider the MA's ... i assumed the reason was the silvers or at least the LCR was not enough for my 4k room.

i've never actually seen a klipsch dealer here, but would prefer not to purchase a "love it or hate it" speaker like so many people say klipsch's are.

the JTR's on the other hand are US only, and i really would like to avoid importing stuff again. :D

but you are correct, once funds are available, i'll consider changing the mains on my HT - but not in my dad's HT - after all, he only has two subs :)
