Thanks Nomo, I kind of figured you say that. The A5's are growing on me more each day, it's like the frost on the window is melting and everything is becoming crystal clear. Nice deep and wide stage, no forward shouting presentation, they can flat out play loud and clean with (to me) no audible distortion. I'm using two A1b's wired in parallel horizontally as a CC, presents a four Ohm load and have to bump up the levels a couple of dB's higher than the A5's but they really fill that center hole with BD movies, if you know what I mean. The A5's performed well without a center prior to using the A1b's, nice phantom center, I really think I need to wait for the A2b though as you say, I need a dedicated CC. I have the room to orient it vertically also, but when I do get it I think I will try horizontal with the tweet as close to parallel with the A5's. I just ordered a PSA XV15 to pair with them, should be exciting...thanks for the useful reply. :)

I would just not use a center until the matching center was released :)

Frankly, I don't see that as being a good match. The speakers are far too disparate for there to be much hope of them blending.

I have the only A2b in existence. I can sell it to you for the right price... :D
Thanks Jim, after the review I'll take you up on that offer.:D Yeah the more I looked at the HTD speak the more I realized it would be a total mismatch. Thanks again for the reco on the sub, ;) should be here tomorrow. How is all going with you after Sandy, I hope you're warm, dry and in good health. :)

You're welcome. Make sure you post your comments on it after you've had the chance to break it in.

I actually got my power back on Friday, so I was only in the dark (and cold) for 5 days. I really thought it was going to be longer. My mother and step-father are still without power, but they have a generator so heat, hot water and power for the refrigerator are all good. The gas supply is getting better too, so it's not as hard to come by any longer. Unfortunately there's a nor'easter barreling down on us now - we aren't out of the woods yet I'm afraid. :(

I don't think Jon would mind we're cool  Will do with the sub. Yeah I'm checking out the storm now on the WC, I can't believe this, still a million people without power and now this.....:(

Yeah I would say just use what you have now and wait out the A2b. Have you asked Jon if he has any B-Stock older A2s available? I noticed he posted a few weeks ago some older A1 B-Stock, so he might have an A2 available.

Yes the A5s have been just pure awesome to listen too. I've been going back over some older CD's and i've even been wasting money (thanks to Buford) on HDTracks.

Chad, I really don't want an A2, and how are you wasting money on HDTracks, was considering to try them out this weekend, got a free download, was going to try and use a 32gb stick and plug into Onkyo, I am really lame at doing this stuff.....

Well shouldn't have said wasting more like blowing money that I probably shouldn't ;)

They do have some great tracks on there, but I just wish that they didn't force you to purchase an entire album to get a few songs you want.

Yeah, I would keep all the speakers the same brand. I would wait for the ARX Center, or get the ARX bookshelf if there is space for a vertical center speaker.

I got a couple of the BS's (A1b's), Im using them wired in parallel horizontally for CC, I'm happy with this setup but realize that I need a dedicated CC (A2b). I do have the room and will try one in a vertical position, thanks ATDG for the suggestion, speaker man to the rescue :D Send me one of your spares, I'm sure you have something that will work in your warehouse....:)

I didn't know you had to buy an entire album to get the songs you like:(
I know this is not the place to discuss this, can I just download (from HDtracks) with my 32gb drive or is there more involved than just plug and download and remove drive and play with USB input on receiver?

Every Artist I looked at that I was interested in did not allow you do download a single song.

I just have a download folder on my PC and everything gets downloaded there, then I just move those files I want to the USB stick after there are finished.

I just have my 818 hooked up to my router and just stream the music right off the computer to the Onkyo.

Oh and this is your thread so if where ever you want to take the conversation is up to you :)

I'm using a single KEF 201/2 as a vertical center. I see a lot of people use 5 identical vertical bookshelf in a 5.1/ 7.1 system.

I would not use 2 center speakers, though, because of the comb filtering.

I think horizontal centers were made because of space limitations, not for SQ.

So if you have the space, I would go with a vertical center. ;)

I hear you my friend. I have used 5 identical BS's vertically with excellent results. I'm going to go vertical with 1 BS for now until I can get the matching center and also use it vertical. :) you're a smart fellow, but I always knew that;) Thanks
