i am mounting a projector and since i am getting a contractor to do the work he is putting a direct outlet on the ceiling, and the projector will be under it, so now the problem comes , how do i surge protect that ??

You can buy single or double outlet surge protectors that plug right into the outlet and then you plug your component into the protector.

Even Monster makes them and they can be found at Best Buy. About $25.

If I can make an additional suggestion/idea that I consider a very strong move:

Towards the middle you will find this:

This product allows you to directly run wiring from the equipment location with your quality surge supressor to the projector. You end up with a common ground which should eliminate ground loops and maximize video quality. This is the most 'legal' way of doing things, though I have used an extension cord from the rack to the projector with identical results. I just ran the projector power cord to the end of the extension cord in the ceiling.

An outlet on the ceiling works, but then you see the outlet, have a fair bit of extra power cord to deal with, and have wires hanging out to look at.

Attached is two photos of the front and back of what it looks like when you run an extension cord, then run wiring down through the projector mount.
