Believe it or not, I discovered only about two years ago the RCA Living Stereo recordings, and I've been buying the SACDs whenever I find them. The artists in this series are the best of their time, and I can't believe that the recording engineers from the 50"s achieved such a great sound with the technology. Why I bother to buy SACDs if I'm unable to tell the difference between them and CDs? what I can tell is that all the SACDs I own were recorded and mastered with incredible care. The CD layer sounds just as good to me.
In any case, I've been listening to:
- Musorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition
Fritz Reiner, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 1957. RCA Living Stereo SACD
- Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3
Berj Zamkochian, organ
Munch, Boston Symphony, 1956.
RCA Living Stereo SACD
- Shostakovich Symphony no. 13, Babi Yar
Jan-hendrik Rootering, bass
Mark Wigglesworth, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, 2006
BIS SACD
- WA Mozart The Three 'Prussian Quartets'
Doric String Quartet, 2021
Chandos CD
