What causes heart-attacks

The main problem with this article is it glosses on one of the actual reasons you have heart attacks for things that increase your likelihood of having a heart attack. Generally people at risk for heart attacks have some history of high cholesterol or blood pressure among other things and if they see a doctor regularly are well aware of the problem. Follow these up with the given situations from the article and yes you are more likely to have a heart attack, but given a regular healthy person while you may for example be fourteen more times likely to have a heart attack if you had a flare of anger your odds are still low hence the anger not causing the heart attack but your predisposed condition mixed with current state being the true cause. If this article was right anyone would be likely to have a heart attack upon waking in the morning so the real moral is don't sleep or don't wake up ;).

Hmmm. Mine came while I was casually watching tv and Greg Norman sink a 4' putt at the U.S. Open. Don't watch golf anymore! ;)

(Actually, the medical community caused it by prescribing to me a drug that ended up killing >50,000 Americans!)

Glad your still with us. After all I need someone to push new equipment on me! Unfortunately the drug approval process is extremely political and getting more so which doesn't bode well for the consumers :(.

I have to agree with both of you completely. I think the nature of the article was a little satirical and meant to play on the fears of heart attacks. It comes across to me as one of those "Really?! No ****!" polls that we always see on the internet or from the news. I would put this whole thing in the same idea as "Life causes death." Enough said. Can't really explain it any simpler than that.

And I am VERY glad that you are all still here!

Heart attacks are usually caused by narrowing of coronary blood vessels to the point where the coronary vasculature can no longer supply sufficient oxygen to the heart muscles.
