What cables do I use? Havent had an upgrade for 20yrs

I just got a new system and with all the reading on the net I am now here to seek your help.

I've seen a lot of wiring diagrams and none I have found are very specific. I have a basic idea but I would like to hear something from a latetest and greatest point of view. Plus just looking at too many shot my brain. And the manual on the TV and receiver are absolute crap, havent got the DVD but I dont expect it to be the greatest either.

I have an Olevia HDTV 532H with HDMI, Sony DVP-NC85H w/HDMI, Harman Kardon AVR 135 6.1 Audio and Video receiver also has HDMI, and the wifes VCR that she wont let me replace, "I know how it works and it's just fine", OK OK. I think I have her talked into hooking it to a different set but lets add it in, because we all know how those battles can go. I am going to be running from a comcast, I assume digital cable box. My question is what cables get me the best performance and in what order they need to be placed. It's my understanding I'll need a seperate device for radio reception via cable? Please be specific (how many, what kind) because I was just made aware there are other cables now available other than RCA, LOL. Hey I'm old OK stop laughing.

I just found that the receiver has no HDMI input. But for now it looks like there are lookers but no one willing to help, hummmmmm

You can use a cheap $15 HDMI cable to run your Sony to your Olevia for picture, but you'll need to run a cheap coax cable for sound from the Sony to the Harman Kardon for surround sound. You can use rca cables for the vcr to the Harman Kardon since it doesn't have surround sound. You should use a decent set of component cables from the cable box to the receiver, then from the receiver to the Olevia. You'll also want to run a cheap coax cable from the cable box to the receiver for surround sound.

Try www.cablewholesale.com. There's a few other sites that offer good deals on cables. Sometimes www. parts - express. com has some nice deals in their clearance area.

Once you buy a subwoofer, you'll need a long subwoofer cable. Again, don't go overboard. They can be had for under $25 online.
