I watched a show on Bessie Smith "Empress of The Blues" on Crave last night. What I found interesting is that Ma Rainey took Bessie Smith under her wing for a while and once again later on in life when Bessie encountered hard times. I'm not sure if that is factual or not because I simply dont know but it would be nice to see such two powerful blues icons in the 20's and 30s be there for one another. I just ordered an LP of this. As I understand it the LP will be released on March 22. I am now enjoying it from Apple Music AAC stream. One song is in a word AWESOME, "Shallow".
