What a RUDE awakening (AV123 product owner)

Wow! 3-4 years ago I upgraded my AV system with AV123 speakers. Went with Rosewood Rockets....1000's, side and rear surrounds, Bigfoot, and even a pair of MFW-15's.

Then a funny thing happened. My wife got pregnant, we ended up with twins and the layout and function of our den totally changed. Out went the Rockets, in went toys and toy storage. The MFW-15's, when they finally came, never made it out of the boxes. The whole lot is in a climate controlled storage facility right now.

Fast forward to today. The kids will be 3 in January. Our architect is finalizing drawings for a 1500sf addition to our house, which will include a nice sized media room. I thought I would just look up my old passwords to the AV forums, and see what I needed to do to upgrade my receiver and choose a projector/screen combo.

I discover that AV123's founder got in big trouble, and the company is no more! i also see that there were problems with the MFW's, and some people ended up replacing parts.

I'm still in shock, but I have a question or two. If I have any trouble with my AV123 speakers, is there any company out there with parts or doing work on them? What was the problem with the subs, and what is the likelihood that I will experience the same? Is there a "fix" that is still available somewhere?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately, that's what happens when a company fails- the customers are often SOL. Fortunately, the components used were probably "off the shelf" of some manufacturer, or other, and should be easy enough to find unless they're discontinued.

The good thing about this kind of equipment is that there are a lot of people who may have a good idea about how to improve on what's available or make something that can be offered for less. The bad thing about this kind of equipment is that there are a lot of people who may have a good idea about how to improve on what's available or make something that can be offered for less and they aren't necessarily scrupulous.

On the bright side, it's been long enough since you bought the MFW-15 that it lasted you 3 years without problems! Time to upgrade to a pair of Epik Empires maybe?

Well, maybe you bought before QC went downhill, so you'll be alright.

If I read the original post correctly, they haven't been out of the box since he bought 'em.

Let's all just hope and pray that they work fine and continue to do so.

Thanks, guys.

Nice knowing I've got a place to turn if I have problems....(yes the subs are still in the boxes).

Now it's off to see what has happened with receivers in the last 3 years (my Denon 3805 is probably hopelessly outdated by now), and see what I can learn about projectors and screens, which will be new to me.

Things seem to change so rapidly with certain parts of our hobby that at times it is hard to keep up! :)
