Hi all, long time/first time.
I have a 2 year old Wharfedale moviestar speaker system and am very happy with the performance vs. cost. I am not an audiophile, but I can appreciate a decent sounding system.
The subwoofer is 100w amplified with an auto-on feature. BUT, the last couple months, it has been turning on and off alot during a program I'm watching, regardless of the volume level or frequency of the output of the audio. Normally I wouldn't care, but there is a loud "thump" whenever it turns on and it gets really annoying.
It has two controls: crossover and level. I've tweaked each of them to both extremes and it doesn't help. I've increased the receiver's sub output to max (10) and decreased the sub level to match the other speakers' output, and that didn't help. The only thing I can do is switch the "auto on" off, and therefore turn on the amp manually (but then I have to remember to turn it off when I'm done watching TV)
I have just read tonight about using a Y-adapter and will try that next, but I'm skeptical that this would solve my problem. (hopefully it will though?!)
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.
