I've only played with it for a few hours. I don't even have a HD picture to view. I have my old cable box hooked up to the S-Video, so only 420i.

Question: How can I determine the date and place of manufacture?

I have software v1.16.

Chances are, the sticker on the back/side of the tv (it is the probably the same sticker that contains the model #) will have the manufacture date. If your lucky, it will also have the place of manufacture.

How is the picture on that thing so far? It is one of the models on my "watch list".

Mine is mounted above the fireplace on the wall, so I can't see the mid-section on the back, but from what I can see(the bottom and both sides), I don't see a sticker. It may be on there somewhere though. It might be on the box it came in also. I don't know if it'll say where it was made, but it should say the month and year at least somewhere. Good luck finding it.

Redman_43, the picture is great. I still can't believe how good it looks sometimes and I've been watching it through HDMI with HD cable for over 3 months now. I still have not seen a better picture with my own eyes at abother person's house or a store. I was one of the lucky few who got it for $1499 during Best Buy's 8 hour sale.

I've been viewing several DVDs running on a Panny DVD-52S feeding the Westy LVW-41W2 thru HDMI. I am upsampling to 1080i. I have no way of viewing 1080p until I get a BlueRay and 1080p material.

All video I've watched thus far in extremely sharp and contrasy. Some of the trailers on DVDs are particularly clean. It seems they record some trailers at a much higher quality than many movies.

A few trailers will take your breath away for a second; they are that good. I watched "V for Vendeta" upsampled to 1080i last night. The picture was incredibley good. Some trailers are even better.

This is a fantastic monitor that has come down in price. Lots of 1080p connections, 1 HDMI, 2 DVIs, 1 VGA, 2 component. Two 480i connections, 1 S-video, 1 A/V.

There have been some reports of On-off lockups wher you have to pull the plug to turn back on. Mine has been working flawless thus far.

Jim of Oak Creek,

Congrats on your new flat screen. Have you tried hooking up rabbit ears to receiver free digital HD over the air? You may be able to pull in some local channels. Some even throw up an antenna in their attic or on the roof, as much of prime time and sports programming is now in HD.

I highly recommend you get a digital HD cable box, or satellite box for your new tv. DVD's don't do your set justice at 480i, not matter how much upconverting is done.
