What cracks us up is the very regressive nature of "unauthorized sales".
We try to support any manufacturer's policy (this company is by NO means the only one with specific and hardened rules on authorized sales)...
But if you back it up to its core - where did the unauthorized products come from? The company. Who lacks the tracking and infrastructure to shut it down? The company. Who should ultimately be responsible for supporting ALL of their products and ensuring that the consumer cannot buy them apart from authorized sources? The company.
It's not like unauthorized sales are products that are stolen from the back of a warehouse at gunpoint. They all originate with a sale. From the company to a distributor or dealer. Serial numbers are typically tracked/logged. If the serial numbers were on the inside or stamped into the circuit boards (perhaps in several places) I think these sales would collapse overnight - but I don't think that is what is truly wanted.
This probably merits an editorial at some point... lol.
