purchased my sub. After carefull deliberation with the S.O. we reached a compromise and I ordered the SVS pb10 nsd and not the the pb12:(. My budget was set at $700.00 Cdn and the pb12 exceeded that by a good amount and I still needed to buy a SPL metre(another $60.00). Anyways I am ecstatic about my new purchase and I do understand the limits of the pb10 in my living room but I am moving up from an Athena as-p300 so the change will be quite dramatic.

FYI I would like to say thanks to all of you who took the time and answered all my questions.:)you guys rock;)
Regards, Bill:)

Way to go Billy. Congrats on your new sub!!!!!! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The PB10 may be a 10" sub, but it sure does NOT sound like it. That is, the PB10 will easily out perform many other brands 12" subs. It is true, however, the PB12 is more sub. As such, if it is out of your budget then you made a great decision going with the PB10. Remember, SVS's customer service is second to none. Kudos to you for making a well informed decision. Be sure to share your initial impressions and perhaps post a few pics if you can.

Cheers,

Phil

I have a few questions for you BillyP

1) Did you order this from SVS canadian website...sonicboom?

2) If I may ask what was the final cost (including shipping) for the sub

3) What was the shipping charge?

I would appreciate that info for any potential future purchases. .

Hi Minus, I purchased from Sonicboom as well. Sub cost was $499, $60.00 (89 lbs, insured) shipping to Vancouver Island, $27.95 tax, total $586.96.

Congrats Billy, got pics?

I was about to pick up the PB10, but Future Shop has the Velo DPS12 for $399 now, so I picked it up. I may still get the PB10 to compare and keep the one I like better. Now off to vacation I go. :)

I really did consider the LFM EX but shipping to my door would equal the cost of the pb12 and the PLUS would likewise as the pb10. The free shipping offer didn't really apply to Canadian customers and FYI my little footnotes where directed to you, thanks Phil! :)

Thanks, I did have the opportunity to audition the svs products at sonicboom and I'm looking forward to dialing everything when my sub/SPL arrive:).

1.Yes
2.Total cost ofthe pb10 & SPL was $630.54. The metre cost an additional $59.00.
3. I live just minutes away from sonicboom, therefore I save on delivery charges:D.

Congrats, Bill. I think you're really gonna dig the upgrade.

$700 Cdn...isn't that like $56,899 USD? ;)

What Sheep said in post #12 but in all honesty I still doesn't make a real difference when buying A/V equipment.:)

Wow that's cheap. I should get one.

That is what I thought! Don't you guys pay Provincial sales tax in beautiful B.C.? I hate that 13% hit here in Ontario.

Hi Mike

how big is your room billy?
I know that you had said the minimum requirement for my room(2800cf) would be the pb12, but the wife saw it and said "NO WAY". The pb10 was even a hard sell. If money were no object, I would've considered something like a Velo or JL, but that is not the case. I am still extremely happy with my decision and will in all probability use it in a nearfield location to get the most out of it.

Finally arrived today!

Earlier today I had arranged to pick up mu PB10 from Sonicboom. However,
much to my chagrin, I opened the store door, and there it was...a freaking HUGE box, and I thought to myself NO WAY is that going to fit in the car:eek: (goodluck to whoever has to put that in their car). However, after further inspection of the "monstrous box" I had come to realize that it was a sealed Ultra awaiting some lucky SOB, and not my sub:eek:. I then had approached the guy at the front desk, provided him with my information, which then led to him bringing my PB10. I had helped him carry it out to my car, and it fit quite nicely:). Anyhow, I finally brought it home, and carried it into my house, and it was double boxed, well insulated with foam (on all 4 corners). The links I provided below show just how well it was packaged.

PS: I haven't yet calibrated my system and I hope to by later this week or at the very least this weekend:cool:. FWIW an upgrage to the pb12 is not out of the question, if the pb10 doesn't work out.

Billy,

From this point on you are banned from posting any more posts here at Audioholics. (later this week or at the very least this weekend) This is not acceptable, and definitely not the behavior of an Audioholic.

That reminds me of when I purchased all my stuff. They loaded up my speakers, sub and AVR on a dolly, carted it out to my car and then we all started laughing. In all my excitement, I had driven my 350Z to the store and not thought about getting it all home.
