The 3800 is just bugging me. How is the video section in the Elites?
You are not scaling so it should not really matter that much for you. You mitsu will probably do as good a job as most of these receivers.

Edit: sorry gsgarcia

gsgarcia, congrats on the purchase, I'm sure you made a good choice.

I showed my wife the picture of Greg's 3800 and she said it was ugly. So I showed her a picture of the 92, and she said it was better. Then I even found a local one for $799, but after extensive measuring and remeasuring, the thing is either a half inch too tall or a half inch too deep to fit in my space. Argh, how frustrating.

Oh yah, and then my wife saw the MSRP of the 92 and freaked out on me about spending money and why I needed a $1500 receiver- she didn't talk to me the rest of the evening...

Ok my dealer has no more of last year's models. He has a VSX-03TXH and will have the SC-05 as soon as it ships. He seems pretty frustrated with me but he is going to look around and see what will work best for in relation to what I am looking for and call me back.

Why is he frustrated with you? Its not like what you are asking for is not offered on other models and you have spent a fair amount of cash.

Have you been drinking?

First off...sorry gsgarcia!!!!!

He says he can fix the 12v trigger with something he has, he said just come in and get it for free. He also can't believe I am making an issue out of the display. He said i really need to just get a pre/pro and be done with it.

Oh....I am about to start drinking!

Honestly, if the 3800 bugged me that much, I would return it.

I mean it's not exactly cheap, so it better be exactly what you want, display issues or not.

How many people vote for "Return To Store"?:D

You can count me in. I am sure he will be happier with the 3800+8:D, except for the two remotes, but he can use a Harmony.

Ok, I have it all hooked up but now I'm running into a problem. I have my PS3 hooked up and am sending the audio via HDMI using L-PCM, so that works fine. However, I'm not getting any sound from my Fios HD DVR, which is a Motorola DCT-6416-2. If I set the settings on the DVR to L-PCM, then I get stereo from the receiver, but if I set it to auto or pass through, it will show DD on the receiver, but I don't get any sound, just a picture.

Anyone know whats going on or what I need to do to fix this? I looked in the manual but it didnt help.

How is your DVR connected to the receiver? Have you messed with the DVR's audio settings?

Considering the price range of the 3800 why not just buy an Integra DTC-9.8 and be done with it? Plus you will have Audessey XT which is so much better than YPAO. You can probably find the 9.8 for a good price now that the 9.9 is out.

The DVR settings are sending the audio out through the HDMI. There is a "hidden: menu where you can send the audio through HDMI either PCM or Pass Through. When I select PCM, I get audio, but only as stereo using Pure Direct on the receiver. Otherwise, I get no sound with any other audio settings with the receiver.

Before I got this receiver, I used the digital out on the DVR to my old receiver, but I cant seem to get that to work with the new receiver either.

I think that Pass Through is the ticket. I'll take a look at the owner's manual for your receiver to see if anything stands out to me.

For the audio connection through the DVR's digital out, have you assigned the digital input on the Pioneer (if required)? Just asking.

Well, the audio is passing through to the receiver through the HDMI as PCM and I only hear the audio when the receiver is set to pure direct. If I set the DVR to pass through, I get no audio.

I have thought about just sending the audio via optical cable, but I don't know how to assign a certain digital input to coorespond to the HDMI. I have the DVR on HDMI 1, but it wont let me change any HDMI 1 settings when I go through the menu.

gsgarcia, I'm looking into your issue...but slowly. I'm doing some other stuff at the moment. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Hopefully some others here can chime in on this.
