The microphone was placed at ear height? You used all 8 positions in a fairly tight circle around your primary seat? Those cardboard stands I've not used, I used an old camera tripod at first but later got a mic boom stand myself, much easier and more consistent positioning of the mic especially compared to the cardboard thingie, altho if you figure out a good way to consistently place all 8 positions with it, it should work well enough.

Acoustic treatment could help, but I've not gone that route myself....the rooms all have other primary purposes and I think with sufficient furnishings for absorbtion/dispersion you can get good results. You really need a measurement mic and software to see what's going on, tho.
Thank you for helping me with this. I'll use the boom stand next time as well. When I ran it last time I didn't get all 8 positions because I think positions 7 and 8 were within two feet of the wall and I thought it wasn't good to take measurements within that distance to the wall.

Is it still ok to take those measurements if it's within that distance of the wall? Also, will using a UMIK-1 with REW, show off I need room treatment?

Is your seating up against the wall? What pattern around MLP are you using?

One way to determine your room's behavior would be to measure it; a measurement mic and appropriate software would be a good thing before just buying treatments.

The MLP is about 1.5 feet away from the wall. When I took the measurements I followed the Audessey app in held of the pattern. Also, I just got A UMIK-1 to use with REW, although I don't know how to use it but looking forward to learning.

Would that software determine if I need room treatment?
