I'm very proud of you buddy you worked hard to bring these babies into your setup now you will pay the dividends. However be warned big boys do bad things to homes. IOTW don't be surprised if your walls texture starts to change. :D

It's OK if it does, because he will only be able to see it when they aren't playing something :D

Same subs! And you're right. I have to find some way to get these babies EQ'ed on the cheap. Maybe the old fashioned way, by playing with the built-in single band EQ's, one at a time...relentlessly changing settings and running sweeps with the SPL meter in hand...and repeating the process two at a time. :(
You could get the Room EQ Wizard. AFAIK, the program is free and all you need is a computer and a microphone. It would save you from running all those manual analog sweeps. Combine it with one of the Behiringer products and you're all set. PS. don't ask me which Behringer product. There's really only one guy to ask about that and you already know who he is.

I believe that before your sub blow up, you had your system under the control of the SMS-1. (Once again, I'm really sorry about your loss. :() Can you definitively say that the EQ'ed bass response was notably superior with the SMS EQ'ing, modestly so, or maybe so? (I understand all the potential variables at play in any particular situation. I'm just interested in what you experienced.)

I can definitely say that the bass response of a properly EQ'd system is notably superior. It is worth the money and the effort to get them properly tuned, especially if your native room response is bad.

I've heard the SMS at work in a friends place in the DD15 and the difference is very noticeable. That doesn't mean it will fix EVERYTHING for every room, but it does seem to do a very good job.
