Jumping on the bandwagon here as well ........my old Onkyo is starting to give me issues, would the AVR experts here consider the above unit to be a good one in the $500 price range ?
IMO the best deal would be the Denon 3000 series for $599 brand new when it is on sale.

Like RIGHT NOW!

https://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-X3300W-Channel-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B01HL8KYAY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499598089&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=denon+receiver&psc=1&smid=AKR88PAWTQVN2

But IMO, the 2000 series is also very good.

I've owned mainly the 3000, 4000, & 5000 series.

But a friend of mine just bought the 2000 series at Fry's in Dallas for $499. I think the 2000 series is very nice.

Thanks AcuDef !
Buy it ASAP! Won't last long.

My friend tried to buy the X3300 at Frys for $599, but they ran out of stock. So he had to get the X2300 for $499, which is still great, but the X3300 is the real deal IMO. He will be pissed when I tell him about this. :)

Makes the decision between 3300 vs 2300 harder for sure. :D

If your goal is to get the main CENTER piece for your HT system, I would still be willing to pay $150 extra for the X3300.

If it's a second system, then the 2300 is an excellent choice.

The X3300 has the flagship Audyssey XT32. This feature costed many Denon AVP-A1HDCI and AVR-5308CI owners $1,200 to upgrade a few years ago! So $150 difference is a bargain. :D

And that $20 Audyssey app is fun to play with, even if it doesn't work perfectly.

$20 app? And I thought it was free. :D
Nope. $20 for the app. It has its ups and downs. I can't seem to get a tweaked curve copy to make a difference. I do like being able to have and save multiple calibration files though. I have files for my towers both ported and plugged. I rearranged the seating in my living room and took measurements for having company over for movie night. Then I push everything back when I want my sweet spot back. All I have to do is upload the one I want.

If enough people complain about it, D&M and Audyssey may be wise to release an update to fix those bugs so there is hope.

I am too cheap to be paying $20 for an app I don't really need. :)

The OP was looking for advice on how to upgrade current receiver. I doubt Yamaha offers an 'UPGRADE' to any of their older receivers, you'd have to BUY a NEW one! :p

How many pieces of your setup do you really need? According to my wife I don't need any of it! :p
Oh, no, I NEED everything I have. ;)

It's non-pharmacologic treatment for daily stress, anxiety, depression, etc. :D

Hey, that gives me a great idea for a new business.

If only I can convince the insurance companies to reimburse me for "Non-Pharmacologic Treatment of Stress, Anxiety, and Depression" using my Home Theater System.

I like it! If your medication (speakers, amp, etc) isn't doing the trick, you get better, more powerful medication!

It's both DOSE & TIME dependent - the higher the dose and the more time you spend with them, the better. :D
