I NEED A NEW SUB. My room size is 25' long by 12' wide with a 6.5' ceicling. I have a pair of Definitive 2004's with powered 12" subwoofers.
I want to put a subwoofer in the rear of my dedicated Home Theater.
I want a sub that not only has kick *** bass but a great tight end and responsive lows.

Any Ideas?
Frank:confused:

The ceiling in the home theater room is actually in two parts because of a step that leads into the living room upstairs. So half of the ceiling is 6.5' and the other half is 7'6". The other room dimensions are correct.
Sorry I did not elaborate on the ceiling.

If you click on the web site below and scroll down, behind my chairs is where the low section of the ceiling is. I know the picture does not accent the difference but you will have an idea.

Thanks,
FRANK

Ps I noticed your question about upgrading even though your home theater is complete. If I have the money I am always upgrading. It's an addiction!!!!

Of course I have to have the approval of my better half. Fortunately she is into it.

I will go with mike c on this and suggest SVS. The SB12 is their small one and they go for $700. I would get two for your room and place them near the seating area. You sacrifice some low end frequencies with subs that have small enclosures.

You do give up some impact on the bottom end, however if you go with two like Nick suggests, I don't think that will be a problem.

Next choice might be a single HSU VTF-3 MkIII, and if it isn't enough, then you can add the turbo option.

The definitive 2004's which are my main speakers each have a built in powered 10" subwoofer rated at 250watts.

I think that two subs could be overkill.

If you are just looking to fill in the bottom end really then, I'd take a serious look at the HSU sub. It is a little smaller than a comparable SVS unit and it performs just as well. The SB-12 is a sealed sub, which will not give you the most impact at the bottom end, so if you are looking to dig deeper, then a vented sub is what you want and that generally means a larger enclosure.

Wow, I really like your theater room. Your speakers need some placement adjustment though, at the very least toe them in so they are not bouncing direclty off the wall. I can't imagine needing 2 subs for a room that size either, after seeing the pics, since you can close it off.

The Def Tech's will be great to blend into the system, as they go somewhat low, but you are looking for some grunt in the low end...

Email SVS and HSU, they will give you great advice...
I would say either a PB12-plus or SB12plus, you'll get a little lower LFE handling with the PB12-Plus.

If you do go smaller, with that room layout, 2 subs would be a good idea..
Placement is harder with 1 in the rectangular rooms. From what I have read..

E-Mailed SVS and HSU. Just reading about both subwoofers and I can say that I really liike what I am seeing in the SVS PC Ultra and the PC Plus Cylinder. The design concept is awesome!!!
I can feel the power.

Thanks to everybody for the advice to look at these subs!!!

Yeah, just like the Servo15 will hit 12hz, but without any authority. A member here had a breif review of the Seismic 10 and said it was disappointing. Paradigm's sub simply can't compete with the internet direct brands, even at the level of the Servo15.

I like the paradigm's Seismic 10. Two of my friends have that sub and it is a powerful little dude.
However I have also heard the svs boxed subwoofers and to my listening tastes the svs has a much tighter end to it.
What I am interested in is the PC Plus or the PC Ultra cylinder subwoofer. I think the idea of a cylinder subwoofer is a good looking idea as well as having good vibrations.

Thanks Frank

Thanks for the compliment. Two years in the making but it was worth it.

My Towers are toed in 4-5" from the wall I guess the pictures do not show that off to well.

Two subs in the room in addition to the two subs in my towers would be to much.

I been thinking about the SVS PC Ultra cylinder sub since WARPDRV made the suggestion to read up on them. I have beentalking to there service tech via e-mail for the pass couple of days.
