Want to know if the amplifier for my fronts has enough power.

I have the following system in my HT/music room:

Onkyo TX NR708 amplifier for the C60 and C603's
Yamaha RS 700 amplifier for the C607's
2x Jamo sub300

My question is that does the yamaha amplifier get enough potential out of the 607's or am i totally underpowering them with the yamaha?

i tried to put a link to the specs of the yamaha but i have less than 5 posts so i cant post any links or pictures. but the model number is yamaha RS700.

The power rating on the amplifier is 100w x2

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing your room size, how far away you sit or how loud you expect to listen, there is no way to answer this.

ok

So if i understand u correctly ur saying that it doesnt matter how strong the amplifier is?

What i want to know is if the amplifier(yamaha RS700) that i am using is sufficient to get the best out of these specific speakers(jamo 607).

btw the room is 5.5x5.5 meters

Thanks for the reply so far.

That's not what I read in his response. What I saw was, you need to fill in some answers before anyone can give you an answer to your question.

You answered one. Can you fill in the other two?

Looked up the R-S700 and found that it appears to be a stereo receiver. It does not really seem to have an advantage over the Onkyo in terms of power, so not entirely sure why it is in the picture other than offloading the mains to another amp, but it should work that way.

The C607s are 6 Ohm/89dB sensitive, so they shouldn't need a ton of power. In a roughly 18'x18' room, you should be able to get pretty good levels from either receiver.

Thx for the effort so far mr garcia.

To paint the picture a bit better. Which i should have done from the start. My bad.

The guys at my audio shop told me that the onkyo wouldnt be able to handle the c60, c603's and the two 607's. So they said i should buy the yamaha to act as a "power amplifier". So the yamaha is connected via pre out on the onkyo.

Any thoughts on this?

I like loud and crystal clear sound with a definitive midrange bass.

Theres nothing wrong with the system but im the type of guy that likes to get the full potential out of something.

I'd say an actual amp would have been a better choice than the Yamaha. As I mentioned already, it is probably about the same amount of power as your receiver; definitely not enough to be a big benefit over the Onkyo.

If you aren't hearing what may be distortion at the levels you are listening at, meaning if it sounds less and less clear as you turn it up, then more power would help. If it sounds good at the level you listen at and you don't need to turn it up beyond that, then you should be fine.

I'd try it with the Onkyo by itself just to compare. It kind of sounds like whoever sold you the setup either undersold you (not enough amp, receiver) or oversold you (amp you didn't really need), because it is kind of dumb to sell you something that doesn't have enough power for what you want to do in the first place. A good shop would have asked the questions I asked earlier.
