Want SACD/DVD Audio Player

I currently have a Sony DVP-NS75H but now I want a player with DVD Audio and SACD support. I have been looking at the Oppos(971 and 981), the Denon 1930CI, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-bWRR1NyPQ2S/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=54400&I=033DV1930C , and the Yamaha DVD-S1700, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-bWRR1NyPQ2S/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=54400&I=022DV1700B . I have also considered just getting a dedicated SACD Player such as the Sony SCD-CE595, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-bWRR1NyPQ2S/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=53100&I=158SCDC595 . Would there be any major differences between audio and video quality between these players? Would the audio on the dedicated Sony be better the DVD players since it is a dedicated player? I have heard that the Oppo 971 is not good for over 50" screens(I have a Sony 60" A20), so would that be a problem? How would the video quality compare to my current Sony DVP75? Any thoughts and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Oppo 981HD. www.oppodigital.com I would advise against a SACD only unit simply because it limits you in title selection and there are some great DVD-As out there.

I am also interested in this same topic. I have been looking at the Yamaha DVD S1700 as an option but can't find any reviews on it. Seems like a decent price compared to the S2700.

I have the older Pioneer DV-563 DVD/SACD/DVD-A player and love it. I'm sure there lots better but for what little I paid for it and the fact that it supports NTSC and PAL discs it's peen pretty good. The new replacement model also supports DIVX.

Does anyone know how the Oppo 981 compares to the Denon 1930CI and the Yamaha 1700 in video and audio quality? I keep reading that the Oppo 981 has a lesser quality sound than the Oppo 971. For this reason i would go for the Oppo 971, but it doesnt support SACD playback.

I read about it over at the AVS Forums under the Oppo 981 thread. Someone emailed Oppo and asked about it and Oppo did say that 981 may have less quality audio than the 970. I would give a link but it seems the AVS Forum is down right now.

If you want sacd and dvd -a support the oppo dvd970 is your best bet of the oppo's. It was belived that the dv981 would have the best of both older version. IMHO the denon you are seeking may be better then the oppos for 5.1 analog but as far as video I think the oppo dv971/981 would be as good if not better. Lastly you mentioned that the 971 is not as good for 50" screens, well they(oppo) recommened it for screens larger then 50" and outside of tv's I wouldn't touch anything sony . A buddy of mine just picked up a 970 also and he loves it.

PQ should be superior to the Denons, considering the 971 bested the 5900...
