Wall & Ceiling color

I know the ideal setup would be both dark ceiling and walls, however my fiance is only on board to go dark with one or the other. Currently the ceiling is a flat white ceiling tile. Would it be best to get dark ceilings with flat non reflective color walls or paint the walls dark and keep the white ceiling?

Is this a projector setup? I'd paint the ceiling black first.
