My wife herself pushed me to by 2 SVS subs because she did not hear "lows". She was not against tower speakers though selected the finish herself. The only question was TV vs projector. She wanted screen to be removed from sight when not needed.

The ones that aren’t joining the thread couldn’t get spousal approval to do so!

And yes, William and I both have. We deal with it somewhat successfully. We are each having positive engagements with our spouses over our various lifestyles.

You want to hear the negative stories?

What’s yours, @Pedro Alvarado ? ;)

well, i lived with a woman that told me what/when/where, i called her mom then i moved out.

i have not experienced the W.A.F. i just find the concept interesting.

i divorced my ex due to her lifestyle choices e.g., parties, smoking weed. yes, i was hoping it was a phase but it didn't end when she turned 30 but we did.

my wife now is more than i could have ever hoped for. i truly feel like the luckiest man i know. oh, and no W.A.F.

Presumably you both share mutual respect for each other, share in decision making, etc...?
That's positive SAF. :)
Then there's the guy whose wife is insisting that the subs and speakers have to fit into cubby holes in the entertainment nook only, nothing out in the room, no surrounds... that is negative SAF, and destructive to a partnership.
:)
The bad stories manifest in posts about needing to hide speakers, installing in-walls, small subwoofers that can be hidden away....
Poor f'n basta'ds. :p

Every wife is different as every husband is. Many people get married and then the guy discovers A/V as a hobby choice, which can really mess with dynamics that weren't previously in place.

I think that if you are married to a slob, you are stuck with a slob for life. If you married a neat-freak, you are stuck with that as well. And she is stuck with you. So, the neat freak wives out there may be more insisting on the look and feel of the room than a guy may want, but it shouldn't be a shock to him.

For me, I have the luxury of a larger home and a wife that doesn't GAF. She's kinda a slob, but I get some decent looking (smaller) towers in my family room and the basement is mine to do with as I please. She gets say in the basement, if she wants, but it's hard to even get her to talk about any project that I'm working on. Even paint and carpet colors can be tough. I buy it, she lives with it, and if she complains, I remind her that I asked her to come help make the decision up front and she failed to.

Somehow... this works for us.
