I replaced my receiver to be able to upgrade to the newer surround sound available with the Blue Ray set ups. I have to admit I am slightly regretting it right now. I have to say I was lucky and picked up my receiver(805) for the steal of the year at $375 from a refurbished Onkyo sale. So I can not complain to much. I guess I will have to start shopping for a decent amp to help bump up my towers. I have gone down this road and I am still pretty happy with the performance that my PS3 will give me when gaming or watching movies, it is really my HD receiver that is really not able to supply a strong input. So maybe that is the ultimate issue.
I will say have been told before my speakers are a extremely tough load to drive. So I am still going to look at an ext. amp for the fronts just to put my mind at rest.
