Hi all - I'm trying to wrap my head around this issue I'm having and can't seem to come up with any solutions. I bet you lot can figure it out no problem:
I have a 5.1 setup = one 5.1 receiver (yamaha rxv 650 = 95w/c), one 5.1 pre-amp (sunfire theater grand processor 1), and one 2 channel amp (ADCOM gfa585 le = 250w/c). I use the sunfire pre-amp to start, then the front l/r channels go to the adcom, and the rest go to the yahama. I'm just using the yamaha for its amplifiers - I set the mode to "pure direct" multi-channel input.
Here's the problem - the speakers attached to the yamaha, especially the rears, are far too weak decible-wise to compare to the fronts! The adcom is just too powerful? Even if i set the rear channel level to +10 on the sunfire AND the yamaha, and set the front channels to -10 on the sunfire, the front two speakers still outpower the other guys too much. I just can't hear the rears at all, and it's ruining the experience.
Anything I can do to boost the volume of the rears (or reduce the volume of the fronts?) Thanks!
